Penobscot Drift Boats

TRIPS

We offer exclusive access to Ripogenus Gorge on the West Branch. The 100-foot vertical granite cliffs prevent all but the most dedicated and agile fisherman from reaching this almost unfished section of river.

On the East Outlet of the Kennebec we pursue landlocked salmon and brook trout and have the bonus opportunity for trophy smallmouth bass as we cross Indian Pond to our take out. This is an excellent trip for children or for those who want to learn to fly fish on the river. When we reach Indian Pond, we can use artificial lures with spinning rods and, for the kids, night crawlers, which bass love! On the main stem of the Penobscot River, smallmouth bass fishing is world class, with fifty fish days a distinct possibility.

Between our home rivers of the West Branch and the East Outlet of the Kennebec are multiple remote wild brook trout ponds. We fish these either from canoes, or--on the ponds really off the beaten track--with belly boats. All you need to do is decide whether you want to catch a lot of brookies in the eight to 12-inch size or puruse a potential five pounder in one of the ponds managed as trophy brook trout waters. A unique area contains two ponds, in close proximity to each other: one with numerous small feisty fish, and the other a short distance through the woods holds fewer but much larger fish.

We also guide wading trips on both the Moose River and the Roach River. These streams are the major spawning areas for salmon and brook trout in the fall. During the spring and summer, dry fly fishing can be excellent.
